A twenty four year old woman from Russia named Kalinina was looking for a husbad to help her get her green card and she turned to the internet and placed an ad.

She placed the classified ad in the free popular Craigslist website and offered the following in the ad:

"Green Card Marriage -- Will pay $300/month. Total $15,000," the Russian national living in Los Angeles wrote in an ad placed on the Craigslist website. "This is strictly platonic business offer, sex not involved." AND "NOT required to live together." She made it quite clear that she wanted a business relationship.

Kalinina's ad found her a husband and the interest of agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE for short.

Kalinina and her internet hubby named Benjamin Adams both found themselves arrested last week at their separate homes.

Kalinina leased hubby Ben Adams a new Ford Mustang as a perk for assisting her with the immigration problem.

Performing the alleged sham marriage ceremony was one Dmitri Chavkerov who was ordained over the Internet and is allegedly the live in boyfriend of Kalinina...

Assistant U.S. Attorney general Curtis A. Kin is quoted as saying: "I'd say it's a fairly blatant example of marriage fraud,"

Supposedly Kalinina began advertising in Craigslist in October 2005 and this maybe the first reported incident of the internet being used for a scam marriage...

Technology being used for newer and greater methods to defraud the system...

Kalinina posted at minimum of 8 craigslist ads with the heading: "Green Card Marriage -- Will pay $300/month. Total $15,000."

What is funny is that the man she "married" is here illegally as well.

Be very careful about fake marriages as you will sign a pledge and guarantee to the federal government that you will reimburse the feds for any welfare or support that the government gives to your spouse.

This will be for a minimum of 10 years and it could be forever if the "wife" never works or so I was told by an immigration attorney. Fake marriages can really cost you as well as jail time.

I do not knowling participate in fake wedding scams and I warn all of those against it.

A really sweet wedding

A couple were married at the place where they first met at the Honey Dew Donut shop where a Cyndi LaRose and her honey said, "I do."

Cyndi LaRose and Joseph David Smith were able to exchange their wedding vows in North Kingstown Rhode Island at the donut shop where they first met each other.

The donut baker was able to make the food for the wedding.

Faraq Mohamed, who is the donut shop's owner, was able to greet customers with a simple question: "Coffee or the wedding?"

A former judge conducted the wedding ceremony at the donut shop for a really sweet wedding.

The donut shop's regular customers all served as the witnesses to the marriage nuptials.

"I saw this good-looking guy standing up there," LaRose said. "He was a country-looking guy, the type I look for, the Grizzly Adams type."

They wanted to have the marriage ceremony on the beach but it was simply too cold.

Bob's comment: South Florida beach weddings are usually available year round...

The doughnut shop is a very casual place where many of their friends go to hang out anyways.
so the couple decided that it was a perfect fit for them to get married there.

"I don't even own a dress," LaRose said.

"You couldn't get me in a tie," Smith said.

The couple planned to spend a Thanksgiving weekend honeymoon at a Connecticut casino.

This could very well be the longest wedding dress in China.

The bridegroom of the bride wearing a really long wedding gown contracted a local wedding dress tailor to make the 200.8-meter-long dress. The dress is 200.8 meters in honor of the 2008 olympics held in China.

The bride who was in south China in a city called Guangzhou walked down the aisle wearing the chinese country's longest wedding gown.

This story was reported in the newspaper called the Guangzhou Daily.

The wedding gown set a new record in China for the longest wedding dress as the previous record title holder was at 99 meters. That is a football field for you American guys...

I performed a wedding on thanksgiving a few years ago.

When I first started doing weddings in South Florida I often thought why people did weddings on holidays...?

Well everyone is generally off from work and the family is gathered together.

And think about how hard it is to forget your anniversary guys.... :)

anyways the wedding was scheduled on thanksgiving and it was to be early afternoon.
The couple practically begged me to come and perform the wedding ceremony on this holiday. No, I did not gouge them and I always charge the same prices as listed on my website.

They invited me for thanksgiving dinner in the early afternoon and I was happy to accept.

They made 2 very large turkeys and one was roasted and the other was deep fried. The deep friend turkey was excellent. I ate until I was stuffed after the marriage ceremony was over.

I was able to return home and have dinner with the family as well.
I must have gained 5 pounds that day...

They were a very nice couple and it is almost always a pleasure to perform a wedding on the holidays and everyday - happy holidays and happy thanksgiving...

Remember to give thanks for the abundant bounty...that is the spirit that the holiday was made in....

"His eyes were twinkling. The eyes are the windows to the soul and when you look you can tell. I knew instantly but I couldn't say because he would think I was picking him up."

"I thought I'd better grab her when I could because we didn't want to live in sin," he said.

A man from Loughborough in the UK was suprised and horrified to find out that he had been 'accidentally married' to his best man.

The groom named Chris Adams, who is 33, had a wedding ceremony where he exchanged vows with his bride named Gemma Mortell, who is 19, on a Valentine's Day wedding ceremony.

The couple returned from honeymoon and looked at the marriage license and then they were in for a big suprise. This was reported by the Sun Newspaper.

The bride Gemma had mistakenly signed her name in the 'witness' space - and best man Paul Hickleston had put his signature where the bride's should have been.

The groom Chris said: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what we'd done. I've known my best man for over 20 years and he's a great guy - but I don't want him as my missus."

Gemma added: "When he told me Paul was down as his wife, I just laughed. I thought he was winding me up".

"But it's not funny. The wedding cost a lot of money. It was the biggest day of our life and we wanted it to be just right. We'd planned it for nine months."

The happy couple were worried and had feared their marriage might not be legal but the Rev Elaine Skinner, who conducted the ceremony, has reassured them.
"I've told them they have nothing to worry about - any mistakes can be corrected and I can issue a new certificate," she said.

Chaplain Bob's comments: I do not know if this couple are goth or not goth. This would not unusual among the goth community - they like the unusual and non-traditional. It is their wedding day, so enjoy it the way you wish. The gothic community comes up with all kinds of different ways to look at things.

Groom, Scott Amsler and his bride to be,M iranda Patterson want to have an unusual marriage ceremony in a graveyard. I guess you could say that this is thinking outside the pine box or coffin.

This September the couple hopes to say their vows among the fallen and those who passed on in a city cemetery.

The groom Mr. Amsler, who is 27, works in the computer field in the daylight and works on old hearses as it is darkness.

The bride and groom insist that they are not a couple of freaks or satanists or in some kind of crazy cult...it is just our style.

This couple met on a blind date and it did not take long for them to believe that they belonged with each other.

They insisted on a wedding in a gazebo and saw one in the graveyard.
they say that the view was beautiful from the hilltop in the cemetery.
The bride said that this was where she wanted to have her wedding ceremony, in the graveyard.

The cemetery had been used since the time of the war between the states or more commonly known as the civil war. They had to get permission from the group in charge of the cemetery and was given access for their wedding.

The bride is quoted as saying "We're not going to do anything stupid or horrible. We just want to have a wedding".

Comment: I have seen dead people get married and some marriages seem dead from the very day they say their vows....

Bridesmaids for hire for weddings - news at 11 :)

A girl in China is going to launch her own company that is going to hire professional bridesmaids for weddings.

Xu Lisha, who is a student at the Tianjin Institute of Professional Technology in China, is recruiting professional bridesmaid staff from colleges and universities locally.

In an online ad, she says she's looking for: "University students are a must. Slim, generous looking, who deal with wedding incidents with wisdom and quick reactions."

Xu told the Daily News: "I feel students are more pure and have good courtesies. More importantly, they need the money."

She has hired herself out 3 times as a bridesmaid already.

Xu says that she was able to came up with the idea after seeing that there is good market demand for professional bridesmaids at weddings. Maybe this is a trend that will catch on in the USA. Can groomsmen rentals at wedding ceremonies be next?

"As positions like wedding host, cameraperson and make-up artist have been professionalised, the same goes for bridesmaids. Future couples would love to hire professional bridesmaids. This is going to be the trend."

I wonder if this trend will go anywhere...

Super Bowl Sunday Wedding

How about a super bowl sunday wedding...?

I actually did a wedding on super bowl sunday.

A groom called me at about 10:30 am and asked if I could perform a wedding?

I have performed hundreds of weddings - I told him.

He said that he wanted to get married.

I asked him "when he wanted to get married, what day...?"

He told me "TODAY".

I asked him if he wanted to get married before, during halftime or after the superbowl game...?

He said that he would like to get married before the game...

I told him: No problem - you're on.

The bride and groom had about 20 guests and their families at the beach wedding.

They were so happy that I could do their wedding on such short notice.

The groom kiddingly asked if I could hurry up the ceremony as he wanted to be sure they did not miss the kick off...!!!

Actually the bride and groom were football fans.

They actually refered me to a couple that were friends of theirs that got married a couple of months later...that is another story...

A young Couple allegedly steals money for their wedding.

Police in Utah are alleging that a Utah couple that are accused of bank robbery might have used the money to pay for their wedding, reception and their honeymoon.

Joshua Rich, who is 25, is charged with robbing a Wells Fargo bank in Lindon, Utah.

Rich along with his wife, Kylee, who is 20, were both arrested after another robbery. This was reported in the Provo Daily Herald.

Police say that Kylee Rich, who was supposedly and allegedly was driving the getaway car at the time of her arrest, was probably not an active participant in the first two robberies.

Pleasant Grove police Capt. Cody Cullimore is quoted as saying that the money was likely spent on trips to Las Vegas and Palm Springs."They committed their first robbery seven days before their wedding, and went on their honeymoon after,"

A bride in Austria who replied 'I don't' as a joke has found out that the joke was on her.

This is for the purpose of preventing forced marriages.

A church had an older man that was in the choir, but he just couldn't sing.
Several people in the church choir hinted to him that he could serve in other places besides the choir, but he continued to come to the choir and sing.
The choir director finally became desperate and went to the pastor to ask the pastor to "encourage" this fellow to quit the choir.

Well the pastor has a meeting with the older man and suggests that "Perhaps you should leave the choir." The older man replies "Why should I get out of the choir?"

Support our Troops - Military Wedding Contest

Palm Beach Weddings with South Florida Photography is gearing up to show our support for our troops in Iraq and / or Afghanistan. We are offering our support for troops with a contest for a free wedding for our military troops.

This wedding contest is open to anyone overseas serving in Iraq or Afghanistan that is in the US Army, Marines, Navy or Air Force at the time of the contest drawing. You need to be able to prove you are in the military and are overseas and are serving honorably in the military services. One lucky contestant will win a wedding package.

This would be great for someone that is a local to the area or who wants a Florida Beach Wedding.

The date for the wedding is open at this time. I will need to work out the details with the bride and groom.

I will assist in planning the wedding that could be a beach wedding or in a more formal location.
I will officiate the wedding and you get free services of a wedding photographer.

This includes up to 2 hours of wedding photography by a professional wedding photographer in West Palm Beach or Ft Lauderdale. This includes a wedding anywhere in Palm Beach or Broward Counties.

I am looking for a Hotel or veteran's group to donate a honeymoon suite and maybe I can get them or an airline to offer airfare for the couple. Maybe someone like Dr. Michael Savage of the Savage Nation show or Dr. Laura of the Dr Laura radio show would like to help me get the word out on this military wedding contest. They always talk about supporting the troops.

I wanted to be able to present the winner of the military wedding contest to be able to have their destination wedding in sunny South Florida.

I would have loved to see Jet Blue Airlines give a pair of tickets airfare to the military contest winners so they could get here to Florida.

A Taiwanese woman has taken out an injunction against her husband to stop him from telling her scary ghost stories. Mrs Chen, complained that her husband was giving her horrible nightmares, reports the Apple Daily Taiwan newspaper.

She first filed a complaint with police, then applied for a personal protection order which was approved by a district court in Taichung.

The couple have been married for 20 years and have two daughters. They separated a few years ago but never divorced.

Sounds like a strange way to get back at the wife, if you ask me...

Mr Chen found work away from home, at an orchard, but returned every few months to visit his daughters for a few days. In her complaint, Mrs Chen claimed her estranged husband often returned home in the dead of the night in a drunken stupor. can you say midnight....

Maybe they would not have been seperated if he would stay sober...

He would then go on to tell her ghost stories for at least an hour, despite her repeated pleas for him to stop.
He would tell her stories of seeing 'figures clothed in white floating around in the orchard', of people hanging themselves, and of the discovery of human bones near the orchard.

I wonder if he saw Herman Munster and grandpa?

In his defense, Mr Chen claimed he was only sharing work stories with his wife.But his daughters told the judge their father frequently traumatised their mother with his macabre tales.

Chinese coal mines have made the news many times for the huge number of serious accidents and deaths in the country. When you have about 1.5 billion people I suppose that life is cheap to their communist government. They allegedly have lax safety standards, and with fatalities that occur on an almost daily basis, they need something to take people's minds off of this subject of safety.

The Datong Coal Group located in the Shanxi province held weddings for 10 miners on Saturday 300 meters or 1,000 ft under the ground in a shaft as reported by, the People's Daily on Monday.

Reuters reports "The weddings were unprecedented nationwide, even worldwide," mine manager Liu Suisheng told the newspaper. "We're going to apply to Guinness World Records."
China reportedly by far has the world's deadliest coal mining industry. It is reported that safety regulations are ignored or bypassed and that coal production is pushed beyond safety limits in a mad rush for profit for the state. The coal mine weddings aim to "lessen the depressing impression" of the mining industry, Liu told the People's Daily newspaper.

One of the ten brides that was married ia quoted as saying "Marrying the man I love in his workplace is really meaningful to me," and another is quoted as saying "I had been considering a unique wedding, but never thought of down a mineshaft."

The bride named Heather Rogge and the groom named Tim Kyle got married at Immaculate Conception in Swanton, but tradition was out the window.

The bride is a big Michigan fan and the groom is for Ohio State. In fact, their relationship started just before the border battle four years ago.

The couple held the wedding the weekend before the game because family members said they wouldn't attend if the wedding was on game day.

I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female driver, who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her. This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out is window and gave the woman the finger.

"Man, that guy is stupid," I thought to myself. I ALWAYS smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female does anything to me in traffic, and here's why: I drive 48 miles each way every day to work. That's 96 miles each day. Most of the bumper-to-bumper is on an 8 lane highway. There are 7 cars every 40 feet for 32 miles. That works out to 982 cars every mile, or 31,424 cars. Even though the rest of the 32 miles is not bumper-to-bumper, I_figure I pass at least another 4000 cars. That brings the number to something like 36,000 cars that I pass everyday.

Statistically, females drive half of these. That's 18,000 women drivers! In any given group of females, 1 in 28 has PMS. That's 642.According to Cosmopolitan, 70% describe their love life as dissatisfying or unrewarding. That's 449. According to the National Institute of Health, 22% of all females have seriously considered suicide or homicide. That's 98. And 34% describe men as their biggest problem. That's 33.

According to the National Rifle Association, 5% of all females_carry_ weapons and this number is increasing. That means that EVERY SINGLE DAY, I drive past at least one female that has a lousy love life, thinks men are her biggest problem, has seriously considered suicide or homicide, has PMS, and is armed.

Give her the finger? I don't think so.

In Bangkok, Thailand there was a video that was leaked over the internet of an extravagant and lavish wedding being put on my the top military general (read dictator) of Myanmar (formerly called Burma) to the north of Thailand. General Than Shwe threw this wedding extravaganza for his daughter. This has produced outrage among ordinary people in the communist military-ruled country that is very poor.

In the 10-minute or so video clip that is posted on the Internet, the bride Thandar Shwe is seen lavishly decked out in layers of pearls and sparkling stones. The sparking stones resemble diamonds. As she is standing next to her husband, he is seen pouring a waterfall of champagne in a cascade of wine glasses.

Hundreds of guests are in attendance with a five-tiered wedding cake as it is cut. The newlywed couple is seen posing for pictures before an ornately laid golden braid bridal suite bed. It comes complete with a beautiful red canopy that stretches all the way up to the ceiling.

This July wedding was the talk of the town in Yangon. Yangon is located on the river by the same name. It was formerly called Rangoon and was the former capitol during the colonial era during the time of British domination.

$50 million was supposedly spent on luxurious cars and a mansion. This country has a population of about 53 million people. This wedding cost well over double what the annual health budget is for this impoverished nation.

One of the guests reported that he had never seen so many yellow coloured diamonds. Reportedly there were many grape sized stones wrapped around the neck of the bride. Rangoon residents are calling, Thandar the bride, "Sein," which means diamond in the Burmese language. Zaw Phyo Win, in the groom and husband and he is an army major and a deputy director at the ministry of Commerce.

Aung Zaw, the editor of Irrawaddy, which is a magazine based in Thailand says "It's outrageous, just outrageous, especially when you consider that most Burmese live in extreme poverty," Burma is considered to be one of Asia's poorest countries. A string of military dictators have ruled Burma and it is presently a tightly closed communist society.

Whoever leaked this lavish wedding video may want to embarrass and disgrace Than Shwe, who is 73 years old. General Than loves to play to the official media outlets and pretend that he is a frugal and modest man

RANCHI, India (AFP) - A teenage boy in a tribal village in eastern India wed a hill in order to appease its goddess and remove a curse placed on his mother, a report said.

The boy, Robin, married a hill named Lakshmi after the goddess of prosperity in the presence of a large number of witnesses in Jharkand state, the Hindustan Times said.

The boy's mother, who had fallen and hurt herself while trying to climb the hill, believed the goddess was unhappy with her. She started to pray to Lakshmi and after three months the deity visited her in a dream.

"The hill goddess asked me to get my son married with her. The marriage will help in getting rid of her curse," said Keswar Devi, who lives in Bordih village, some 170 kilometers (105 miles) southeast of the state capital Ranchi.

"I requested my son and he agreed for the marriage."

On Tuesday, Robin wore a traditional bridegroom's outfit and set out on foot with a large festive party from his village to the hill three kilometers away.
The 400 villagers washed the hill with water and Robin placed a garland at the top.
After the priest performed the wedding rituals, a reception was thrown by the groom's family.
"I have accepted the hill as my wife," said Robin. "I have no remorse."

A local anthropologist said it was not uncommon for tribal people to marry objects or animals.

This is one instance where this is a truth.

For one young New Zealand couple, from Auckland, this is so very true.

Their wedding had all the ingredients of a perfect day.

It also had a little something extra to make it a first for New Zealand.

The bride and groom of the wedding, Sara Pivac and Darryl Alexander, were both born deaf.

They are said to be the first couple in the country to be married by a deaf officiant.

An Argentinian woman has been arrested for stabbing her husband because he did not have sex with her.
The 52-year-old, from Buenos Aires, stabbed her husband in the back but he was not seriously injured.

Heck is a state of being in the afterlife, according to certain (sometimes ironic) religious philosophies. It is generally presented as the place where the souls of deceased people who were somewhat sinful - but not bad enough to warrant the eternal torment of Hell - are punished. To others, it is merely a euphemism for Hell.

According to some believers, it is a temporary punishment, to teach the soul a lesson, similar to the traditional Catholic concept of Purgatory. Others conceive of it as permanent and eternal like Hell, but not as unpleasant, marked more by boredom, sadness, and loss than pain and suffering; this model is similar to the ancient Greek conception of the underworld realm of Hades. The unifying concept is an appeal to a common sense of justice suggesting that milder punishments should be meted out for milder wrongdoing. The name is taken from the popular euphemism for the profane word Hell.

One humorous example of this concept in popular literature is in the comic strip Dilbert, in which a character named Phil, The Prince of Insufficient Light (a milder styling than "Prince of Darkness") is the ruler of Heck, and appears periodically to inflict mild punishments upon characters for their moderate transgressions. Instead of the Prince of Darkness's familiar pitchfork, Phil wields an enormous spoon.

Another view in humorous light is that Heck, being lesser than Hell, is ruled by Satan's less evil brother Stan (Satan without the first a).

I used to work with Stan and one of his co-workers would agree with this and the minions of Stan...I liked that Stan.

The Bible is a book that contains the mind of God. The modern view of the Bible is that it is merely a book of stories and good morals that cannot possibly be true. The book of Jonah is perhaps the most criticized and unbelievable of all the Bible with the exception of the creation. I for one reject the so-called liberal scholars and their higherCriticis of the Bible, I call this the lower criticis of the Bible as it is from beneath And comes from the pit of Hell.

I believe you should use the King James Bible for your studies, and if you use another write me and I will be happy to tell you why I believe it. I will not condemn you if you use another Bible, but I have my reasons why I stick with the old King James Bible. I still love the KJV old English literature style and I believe it.It is so sad that today the average person who calls himself a Christian has never read the Bible and cannot even name ten of the books contained in it. The TV guide is better known than the Holy Scriptures. Friends, watching Jerry Springer will not get you into Heaven. The Guiding Light is not an afternoon soap opera.

Let us see what Jesus says: Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Luk 11:32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas [is] here. So if you wish to say Jonah was only a fishermans tale well all you must do is deny the words of Jesus and call him a liar. I for one say I agree with the Bible where it says:Rom 3:4 Let God be true, but every man a liar;

So let us look at the Book of Jonah.Jon 1:1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish (Spain?) from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. Jonah was commanded of the Lord to go to Ninevah, the Capitol City of the Assyrian Empire. They were exceedingly cruel, a people who would take fishhooks and put them into the jaws of the captives conquered in honor of their fish god Dagon. They would parade the captives by the hooks down the streets and these were the ones that God told Jonah to preach repentance to. Dagon looked quite a bit like the mermaid characters in Disneys children movie, the little mermaid. Dagon had the tail of a fish from the waist down and from the waist up it was like a man.I wonder why Disney depicted the heros in the little mermaid to look exactly like a heathen satanic deity condemned in the Holy Bible? Do you think it is a coincidence?I know better than that, the devils are hard at work on TV and in the movies and in all of society.

2Ki 15:20 And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, [even] of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land. Israel had to pay tribute to keep peace with the Assyrians and I am sure Jonah was a patriot who loved his country. God told Jonah to go one way and he went the other way. Some believe Jonah was a coward that was afraid to preach to the cruel Assyrians. I believe he was a brave prophet who wanted to see his fellow countrymens enemy destroyed.

Jon 1:4 But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that [were] in the ship into the sea, to lighten [it] of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep. So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not. Jonah was asleep (spiritually) and the Lord was blocking his path with the great windAgainst the ship.Jon 1:7 And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil [is] upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah. Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil [is] upon us; What [is] thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what [is] thy country? and of what people [art] thou? Here the mariners cast lots (drew straws) to find who was at fault and the reason for the storm.Jon 1:9 And he said unto them, I [am] an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry [land]. Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. So the men knew the whole story of Jonah. Where can we go to escape from God?

Jon 1:11 Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous. And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest [is] upon you. The sailors did not want to cast Jonah into the sea, yet they would do so. Do these sound like the words of a coward that is afraid to die?Jon 1:13 Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring [it] to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them. Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee. So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.

Jon 1:16 Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows. Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.Jon 2:1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, [and] thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. Jonah likened the experience to Hell.

A whale is a warm-blooded mammal as we are. The body temperature of a whale must be near 100 degrees and Jonah was in this sweltering heat. I can only imagine the utter darkness he must have endured running from the Lord.I do know how true this is, and it makes for a good story: In 1891 it was recorded that A whaling ship, the star of the east, was hunting a whale and one of the boats was capsized and the men were believed drowned in the struggle with the whale. The whale was killed and brought along side the ship. As they were to bring the stomach upon the deck they saw movement. Well they cut open the whales stomach and lo and behold, a missing crewmember from the capsized boat had been swallowed. He was in shock and unconscious from his two and a half-day ordeal. His appearance was a white paper from the acids in the gastric secretions of the whale. The sailor was to take about two weeks to recover from his ordeal. He recounted his story as he hit the water and was to slide down the slippery slope that was the throat of the whale.He realized that he was in utter darkness and that yet he had air to breathe in this place.He walked to the side and felt what was like a slippery curtain move away from the touch of his hand. He was terrified as he realized he was inside the whale and had no way out. He said the heat was unbearable and he went into shock from fear and not from any harm.The crew of the ship and the newspapers of his day reported this account.

Jon 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay [that] that I have vowed. Salvation [is] of the LORD. And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry [land]. Jonah decides to obey the Lord and perform his prophets vow.Now in the Halleys Bible Handbook it is stated that in the ruins of Assyria there is a picture of a great fish with a man coming out of his mouth. I do not know if this was actual history of Jonah recorded or a prophecy for Dagon their fish god. Either way the Assyrians must have seen this bleached white man, who looked like an angel, get Spit up on the shore by a great fish.

I am sure they saw it as a sign from their fish god Dagon. Jonah by his disobedience set the stage for the Assyrians to hear his message.Can you imagine Jonah is spit upon the beach by a whale in front of a bunch of fishermen? What do you think Jonahs words to them were? Repent! The fish god Dagon had sent a prophet unto Ninevah they must have thought. Jon 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered [him] with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused [it] to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that [is] in their hands. The King proclaimed a fast and the people repented of the evil in their hands. Look at a more modern message that applies to our day and time.

Mat 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Repentance is a very important doctrine to the Lord. Luk 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. We are to repent and turn away from sin. The Lord does not repent as we do. He will often times delay judgment as grace to let us change our evil ways and find salvation.Jon 3:9 Who can tell [if] God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did [it] not. Jon 4:1 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, [was] not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou [art] a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. Jonah was angry due to the fact that God spared Assyria and they were being used as a rod of correction to punish Israel for her evil. Jonah wanted God to destroy Assyria and to spare his people, yet he says God is a gracious God and is merciful of great kindness.Jon 4:3 Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for [it is] better for me to die than to live. Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry? Jonah wanted to die and the Lord questioned him as to his anger.Jon 4:5 So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city. And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made [it] to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. Here we have Jonah waiting to see if the Lord will destroy the city, wishful thinking on his part.

The Lord allowed a gourd plant to cover Jonah as to shade him from the fierce desert sun.Jon 4:7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, [It is] better for me to die than to live. Now the worm had withered the gourd and the desert sun beat upon Jonahs head and he wanted to die as he had failed to prevent the city from repenting and perishing.Jon 4:9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, [even] unto death. Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night. Wedding Cake

But this is a story about a groom and bride , a young couple preparing for their wedding day.
The bride-to-be was obviously stressed out and the sensitive future groom offered to help her with some of the arrangements. She suggested that he handle the ordering of the wedding cake.

There was a Scripture verse that was special to her and she told him that she would very much like for it to be written on their wedding cake. The verse She wanted was 1 John 4:18, "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear."

He agreed that it was indeed the perfect verse for their cake and set off for the bakery. He did a fine job at the bakery, informing the baker of all the details of this magnificent wedding cake, including the Scripture verse.

He left out a vital piece of information for the baker, however,and instead of 1 John 4:18, he told the baker simply John 4:18. A few days before the wedding, the baker contacted the groom to confirm the Scripture they wanted on the cake. He assured her that the verse he said was exactly what his future wife wanted. Somewhat apprehensive, the baker hung up the phone and proceeded to decorate the young couple's wedding cake.

The big day had arrived. The ceremony went off extremely well. The bride had never looked more beautiful and He looked very handsome in his tuxedo.

The two proceeded to the reception and over to the wedding cake to begin the picture-taking session. It was at this moment that He realized his tragic mistake with the verse.

She read, with horror, the verse on their wedding cake. John 4:18 says:"The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband."

Many weddings are planned this month. I had one last night, one thisafternoon, and 4 in the next 3 days! And that's just the first week ofJune! Here are some thoughts from my 36 years of weddings/counseling thatmight encourage you:

*As part of the sermon (saved on video, of course) I heard myself saying,"It is a sad fact that 50% of marriages end in divorce. The other 50% endin death. You could be one of the lucky ones."

*As I was asking the traditional wedding questions, "Wilt thou love, honor,cherish, be faithful, etc" I was surprised to hear the groom answer "Iwilt".

*In the last counseling session we "check off" all the parts of the ceremonyto be sure the wedding will flow smoothly. We talked about hymns andspecial music, how the front of the church would be decorated, and whethershe would have a white runner down the center aisle.So I read down the list, "Aisle? Altar? Hymn?" and she said, "Pastor, that'swhat she planned to do. I'll alter him."

*In discussing how to handle finances, I shared with a couple that my wifeis always asking for money. "$50 this week, $100 last week. Every week it'smoney, money, money."They asked what she did with all the money and I had to confess that Ididn't know. I never gave her any!

*Overheard from two men in line for cake at a wedding. One said, "Well, mywife is an angel"The other replied, "Be thankful. Mine's still alive."

Married man in the dog house....literally!!!

Man chained up in kennel by Ananova news

A 75-year-old Polish man was chained up by his wife in a dog kennel because she was fed up with him coming home drunk.
Zdzislawa Bukarowicza was chained up by his wife Helena and fed on dog food and water because she was sick of him spending all their money on vodka.
He survived almost three weeks living on an old blanket in the dog kennel and being fed from the dog bowl despite temperatures of minus 20 degrees at his home in Scinawa.
He was eventually freed when friends, who had not seen him at their local for several days, called the police.

The moral of this story is....

Do not come home drunk and spend all the family money on vodka....AMEN.

During the wedding rehearsal, the groom approached the pastor with an unusual offer:

"Look, I'll give you $100 if you'll change the wedding vows. When you get tothe part where I'm supposed to promise to 'love, honor and obey' and 'befaithful to her forever,' I'd appreciate it if you'd just leave that out."He passed the minister a $100 bill and walked away satisfied.

A Swedish man who donated sperm to a lesbian couple has been ordered to pay child support for their three children.
In the early 1990s the man, now 39, donated his sperm to a woman in a lesbian relationship. She had three sons, the oldest of whom is now 13 years old.
Although the man signed a document confirming he was the biological father of the children, he told the court the women agreed he would not be involved in their upbringing in any way.
But when the women separated, the biological mother of the three boys demanded child support payments from the man.
He went to court but lost the case and the subsequent appeal before taking the matter to the Supreme Court, the highest appeals court in the country.
The Supreme Court has confirmed the earlier rulings, stating that the biological father is required to pay child support to the mother of the three children he indirectly fathered.

A Guatemalan man faked his own kidnapping to get out of his wedding.

A Bosnian pensioner who claims to have been married 162 times has said he wants to marry at least another 100 women.
Nedeljko Ilincic, 75, from Milosevac in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said he first got married when he was 15 and since then it has been "just one wife after another".
He said he now plans to see if his "feat" is worthy of a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
The former waiter, who has 14 children from different marriages, told local weekly Svet: "I first got married when I was only 15.
"I did it mainly because my parents wanted me to marry a woman named Joka, even though she was 20 years older than me, because her family was rich.
"I soon divorced her though because I didn't like her and after that it was just one wife after another. I seemed to be getting either married or divorced all the time.

Well it is the Holiday season that is upon us.

Last year I had a wedding on December 24th or Christmas eve as it is more commonly known.

The Bride and Groom were happy to be able to find a minister on what was fairly short notice.

They were glad to get married on this holiday as most all of their family was off work and was able to attend the "special day" in honor of the wedding day and the marriage.

Holidays are fairly easy to remember for an anniversary and the family is off work and it is easy for the family to gather together for the special event. So that is why some choose this route to get married.

A Florida wedding in the winter is a great vacation and a nice break from the bitter cold of the northern winters....

Just watch out for wedding crashers.....

Your wedding day should be a joyous occasion.
I have seen too many wedding where the family fights and it is not too happy. I know why alot of bride's and groom's elope to Florida and get married on the beach.

I have seen bride's and grooms get stressed out and can not even repeat vows to each other.

I always match my behavior to the mood of the wedding. If they are very serious and somber, then I act appropriately.

Formal weddings are usually very serious and I act accordingly.

If the couple are light and playful telling jokes, then I am happy to match the mood of the marriage party.

I always try to put the bride and groom at ease in as many ways as possible.

I try to be one of the first to arrive as there is no sense in stressing the bride by having her worry if the officiant is going to show up....NO OFFICIANT MEANS NO WEDDING!
I try to do a mini rehearsal before the ceremony. I want them to feel confident that we are all on the same page and that they know what they are supposed to do. I also want to make sure that I understand any special requests for a custom ceremony.
If they are really nervous, and I think that they will have stage fright, I tell them jokes. The jokes usually make them forget their fears and the ceremony almost always works out just fine. If they are still too stressed, I can just have them say "I DO" instead of repeating vows. This seems to work just fine.

Just some tricks that I have learned through the years.

marriage advise to the ladies

Find someone that meets the standards that you feel are important and do not plan on making the man change.

It usually does not happen that way.

Dr. Laura and I agree on much about the way that Bride's and Groom's should treat each other. Fullfill each others needs first, and you shall have fewer problems, instead of focusing on your wants.

So much for today's marriage counseling session.
